We gathered sea shells for the base of the palm tree!
I learned to love the Iceberg Rose
A fall planter for my door in May!
The beauty of Chile. I want to share with you the world that I saw while living in South America. I enjoyed the different species that I saw there. I was pleased to recognise most of them. There was one nursery that I enjoyed going to. I could only imagine what the owner thought every time I would show up and try to communicate with him. He was kind and had gardeners hands. In his eyes I could see he was wise and looked at me with a spark of curiosity and wonder. He was always patient with my broken Spanish. I remember my last visit I had with him. He smiled and chuckled at my request for a plant that I could not find in the nursery but really wanted. It was a blue agave.  I had the perfect spot for it in a bed that I had just put in my yard. After trying to explain it to him, he bid me to follow him to the back of his land. He proudly showed my the plant that I had come looking for. "Yes! That is the one I want," I said. So, he took a shovel and dug it up out of the back of his field and then charged me $10.00 for it. I am sure he laughs about that to this day!!! Crazy american lady! Ha ha! All of these beds were around my house. We gathered rocks to line the beds and spent hours at the beach picking up sea shells to place around the base of the Palm Trees. The white in the shells set off the beautiful Iceburg Roses that lined the drive. I learned to apreciate them and now count them as one of my favorite rose. I hope you like the pictures. Enjoy!

This was my last flower bed I added. The grass here was all brown and dead. Notice the Blue Agave in the center!  Ha ha!  Money well spent.

I have decided to re-do my blog. I obviously wasn't good at keeping the HamFam Fun blog up and running. Two posts in three years does not a good blog make. Oh, well! On with bigger and better things......I do not really enjoy technical things. So, I will learn as I go. I do however love all things gardening. Trees, flowers, bushes, dirt, grasses, bugs, small animals, fairies, trolls, bulbs, mushrooms, vines, ground cover etc, etc....... Enjoy!
